This multidisciplinary team orchestrated a symphony of design, architecture and construction, transforming the site into a harmonious blend of art, nature and luxurious living over four years. The resulting masterpiece captures the spirit of Lake Austin, inviting residents and guests to experience its beauty and tranquility. The location and topography of the Red Oak Residence played a pivotal role in shaping its design plan. Large swaths of glass were strategically used by local lighting experts LWSN to optimize breathtaking views, and curvilinear glass walls throughout the house provide soft, endless views and connectivity to the outdoors. The interior elements of the residence incorporate saturated blues and greens, echoing the natural tones of the lake and the lush vegetation surrounding it.

One challenge was incorporating the client’s love for curved forms and a jewel-toned color palette. The transformation of the former Medici Coffee space into a stunning two-story office for Moreland Properties is a testament to the attention to detail and luxury aesthetic. Capra's role as General Manager will be focused on business process management execution, including strategy, human resources, information technology, marketing, and facility management functions. His background includes twenty years of corporate human resources leadership roles with Ingersoll-Rand, Motorola, and Freescale, along with a ten year stint in secondary education. Capra's focus will be on enabling success through the implementation of leading industry business practices. Ms. Britt, a registered interior designer, also holds a Master of Architecture degree from the University of Texas School of Architecture with an emphasis in sustainability. In addition to managing her design practice, she founded her own American-made, modern furniture company focused on creating low-emitting healthy furnishings for use in commercial and residential settings. Previously in her career, she successfully managed and designed large-scale commercial interior design and architecture projects as the Interior Designer for the Air Force Academy. She and her firm have extensive experience in Residential, Multi-family, Student Living, Commercial Offices, Hospitality, as well as Governmental and Higher Educational projects. She currently serves on the Advisory Council for the University of Texas School of Architecture and supports education about health, wellness, and sustainability as related to the built environment. LaRue Architects’ innovative design of the buildings provided the perfect canvas for Britt’s creative vision.

The residence is also adorned with custom glass lighting installations, all commissioned by Britt and executed by LWSN. The dining room features a mesmerizing fixture comprised of 400 hand-blown glass discs suspended in a serpentine shape, elegantly mimicking the reflective movement of water. Views are framed by large windows from two opposite sides allowing the users to experience the busy streetscape (front) and the quite solitude of backyard landscape (back). “The main lobby is the primary entry for interaction between offices… the backyard landscape is the same concept. The building was intended to have a single user per floor so that the users could experience the continuous run of window from all angles of the building,” says Mark Odom Studio. “The idea behind WELL Design is an overview of the office occupants and how we occupy and use the space,” says Laura Britt, founding Principal Britt Design Group. In designing the new office space, the team used technological integration of both AV and lighting systems allowing for maximum flexibility of the space. Various sizes and types of working and meeting areas support a wide range of activities and provide an opportunity for movement between spaces throughout the workday and a Wellness Room provides a quiet respite.
